Islamabad, April 2, 2008

LINKdotNET, a subsidiary of Orascom, has entered Pakistan's fast-growing ICT market, the company said in a statement.

The leading Internet service and solutions provider had begun its operations last month in Pakistan, it added.

The launch of services follows the recent acquisition of two of the country’s leading Internet service providers; World Online (WOL) and Dancom Online, giving LINKdotNET a strong footing from the start and a substantial share of Internet subscribers in the country.

LINKdotNET Pakistan chief executive officer Ahmed Khalaf said he expects his new company to make an immediate impression in the marketplace.

"We have a number of unique selling propositions not the least of which is our experience," he said.

"LINKdotNET Pakistan may be a new company in this country, but we bring more than 10 years of know-how in Internet Services and Solutions gained through handling 2 million subscribers across the region,” he added.

“We will optimise the regional strengths of Orascom and LINKdotNET with the local knowledge and professional expertise of WOL and Dancom Online to deliver a range of quality services and products to a wide customer range from industry and government to households,” Khalaf said.

LINKdotNET will implement innovative and affordable methods to deliver Internet and data services to the corporate sector of Pakistan.

The company is also the first to offer 24-hour unlimited DSL services for households at affordable rates, which, in turn, is expected to quickly establish a substantial broadband user market in the country.

"Pakistan represents a great business opportunity for us," said Khalaf. "And through the provision of state of the art technology and services of the highest quality, our goal is take the Internet revolution to a new level and offer convenience and value to as many of Pakistan's households and businesses as possible."

The services LINKdotNET offers include broadband Internet through DSL and WiMAX technologies for home and corporate users along with the traditional Dialup Internet. In addition, the company will offer L2/L3VPN, VSAT, Wireless P2P, Long Haul Connectivity solutions. – TradeArabia News Service
