Netgear, a worldwide provider of technologically advanced networking products, has been awarded the ‘Best Partner-Vendor Project Delivery’ award at the Digital Business Channel MEA 2007.

It is the defining event for the business IT channel leaders in Russia and MEA countries. More than 200 major channel partners and distributors from across the Middle East and Africa who were present at the event participated in the voting process, said an official spokesman.

Netgear emerged as the top pick for its successful implementation of an Dh1.8 million ($0.49 million) contract with the UAE Ministry of Education (MOE) to deliver wireless networking solutions to 350 schools in the country.

The contract involved the delivery of three key products - the wireless access point WAG102, Prosafe 8 port 10/100 switch and wireless PCI adaptor WPN311, to educational facilities under the patronage of the MOE.

More than 70,000 students and teachers are benefited by the project, which has provided limitless opportunities for an internet-based education. In addition, Netgear’s products have facilitated the availability of a steady stream of relevant educational material for the pupils’ lectures, which helped enhance their learning techniques.

Further, company officials have also announced that Netgear has received positive feedback and an expression of interest from the different Ministries of Education across the region.

Netgear had also been named by readers of the IT Weekly magazine as the ‘Best New Company’ at the 2006 IT Weekly Arab Technology Awards, in recognition of the company’s contribution to the region's ongoing digital revolution and its role in aiding organizations across the Arab world to embrace information technology in their operations and practices.
