Etisalat Academy hosts 3G networks conference

Over 100 technical experts and professionals specialised in the deployment of 3G networks from across the Middle East and North Africa have concluded a successful two-day conference at the Etisalat Academy.
Participants in the events discussed the latest development and deployment of 3G and beyond network as they shared best practices case studies on the event’s core theme: ‘How to get Best Return from your 3G Network, both Commercially and Technically’.
“This event, held in collaboration with Qualcomm Engineering Services Group has become one of the most important events of its kind. Maximizing the use of 3G networks is now of paramount importance to all carriers as data is the next source of revenues,” said general manager, Etisalat Academy, Dr Doaa Fares.
Director business Development, Middle East, Qualcomm, Hani Yassin, senior staff engineering manager, Qualcomm, Jay Dills and director of technical marketing, Qualcomm, Gjinder Singh spoke at the seminar.
“Operators worldwide have either already made the upgrade from 2G to 3G, or are planning such an upgrade. While operators in developed countries like in developed countries such as the UAE, US and Japan are rolling out 3G data services such as HSDPA and EVDPO in a multi-phase approach,” added Dr Fares.
Speakers also discussed broadband services and applications, evolutionary path of the 3GPP standards beyond HSDPA, 3G,3.5G networks optimization, and they compared between fixed and wireless solutions.
