FVC to distribute ScanSafe services

Dubai, November 12, 2007

FVC said it had signed an agreement with ScanSafe, the pioneer and world’s largest provider of web security-as-a-service.

FVC will distribute ScanSafe’s managed security services throughout the Middle East and North Africa.

This agreement marks ScanSafe’s first channel entry into the Middle East market and will help to support existing local customers including Investcorp and the Kuwait Investment Office.

“Web Security-as-a-Service is relatively new to the region and we are pleased to be working with ScanSafe, the company that pioneered this award-winning service globally,” said K S Parag, regional director for FVC.

“This agreement will enhance our existing range of enterprise-oriented security products and solutions. With this addition, our partners can now meet their customers’ challenge of coping with increasing complex and rapidly expanding malicious web threats.”

ScanSafe is a leading value-added distributor (VAD) in Middle East and North Africa.

ScanSafe’s portfolio of services includes Web Malware Scanning, Web Filtering and IM Control.

The company’s solutions deliver complete security and control over Web and IM traffic by scanning traffic in real-time and blocking malware and unwanted content before it reaches the corporate network.

As fully managed services, ScanSafe solutions require no hardware, upfront capital costs or maintenance and can be deployed in less than one hour.

ScanSafe customers typically experience a 30-40 per cent decrease in total cost of ownership resulting from increased productivity, reduced bandwidth utilization and by freeing IT staff from the burden of maintenance and remediation of malware-infected PCs.

“We are very excited to partner with FVC, one of the leading security distributors in the Middle East,” said Eldar Tuvey, chief executive officer of ScanSafe.

“This partnership extends the reach of our services to this fast growing region and enables local enterprises to benefit from the technology and economic advantages of the Security-as-a-Service model”.

Powered by its proactive Outbreak Intelligence real-time threat detection technology, ScanSafe processes more than seven billion Web requests and blocks 80 million threats each month for customers worldwide, including ICI, Condé Nast and BMW.

FVC hopes to further strengthen ScanSafe’s position in the region through with its expertise and resources, including pre-sales and post-sales support as well as training services.

The agreement with FVC will ensure that local customers of the security service can now be locally supported by FVC’s team. TradeArabia News Service
