CA at software show
Dubai, June 24, 2007
CA has boosted its presence at the Software Project Trade Show where it joined the elite judging panel to review student IT projects.
The show is a nation-wide project application contest hosted by the University of Wollongong in Dubai where the students' projects are reviewed on the basis of several factors such as innovation, presentation, usability and marketability of their work.
CA director (Industry Development) Saeid Marashi is part of the elite judging panel.
"The show provided current undergraduate IT students with an opportunity to compete, communicate and showcase their academic interests by presenting software projects undertaken at their respective institutions," Marashi noted.
According to him, the support of CA at the event helped students understand industry requirements and prepare themselves for a career in the field of IT.
“CA is a global corporation with a local commitment. We support organisations, programs and initiatives that enrich the lives and well-being of others in education and technology,” Marashi observed.
"This fits in with CA’s mission, to share its employees, expertise and technology to help students and young aspirants reach their full potential and achieve more in the region’s growing IT market," he added.
Commenting on the event, chair of College of Information Technology, University of Wollongong in Dubai Dr Farhad Keissarian, said, “We appreciate the efforts of a global IT leader like CA to support us in such events. Our aim is to bridge the gap between the education that students receive at university and the job requirements in the field of IT."
"This is a wonderful example of forging closer ties between the IT industry and leading educational institutions in the region,” he added. TradeArabia News Service
