One dead, 10 hurt in new London attack
LONDON, June 19, 2017
One man has died and at least 10 are injured after a van ploughed into worshippers leaving a London mosque on Monday in a suspected terror attack, media reports said.
The Muslim Council of Britain said the vehicle hit people as they were leaving the Finsbury Park Mosque, one of the biggest in the country, reported Reuters.
A 48-year-old driver of the van was held by members of the public at the scene, and arrested by police, according to an ABC News report.
The London Ambulance Service said eight people were being treated for injuries in hospital, with two others earlier treated at the scene for minor injuries, it added.
British Prime Minister Theresa May said the incident was being treated as a "potential terrorist attack" and is expected to chair an emergency meeting later today.
