Tokyo, February 4, 2010

Toyota Motor Corp on Thursday raised its global sales forecast to 7.180 million vehicles from 7.030 million vehicles for the financial year ending in March.

In North America, its most important market, Toyota said it expects groupwide sales of 2.050 million units instead of 1.970 million.

The figures include sales at truck maker Hino Motors Ltd and compact car maker Daihatsu Motor Co.

Toyota announced a net profit of 153.2 billion yen ($1.7 billion) for the latest quarter. It said the company now expects a net profit of 80 billion yen for the year to March 2010, against an earlier forecast of a loss.
