Alba Line 6 'a turning point for Bahrain'

Bahrain-based aluminium smelter Aluminium Bahrain’s (Alba) Line 6 Expansion Project is a turning point for the kingdom and the aluminium industry in the region, said Alba chairman.
"We now look forward to the next phase of the project, which will make the company the world’s largest site aluminium smelter," said Shaikh Daij Bin Salman Bin Daij Al Khalifa in a statement.
He made the remarks during the third quarterly board of directors meeting for this year held today (September 26) at Alba.
Shaikh Daij continued: “We are pleased to have safely progressed our roadmap for future growth as we aim to pour Line 6 first hot metal by January 1.”
During the meeting, the board approved the minutes of the previous meeting, which was held on May 9, it said.
Additionally, the board reviewed reports of the executive committee, board audit committee and the nomination and remuneration committee.
Updates were also given on safety, financial performance to-date, Line 6 Expansion Project overall progress, Project Titan – Phase III as well as insights on the overall market conditions: London Metal Exchange (LME) and Alumina prices, it added.
In addition to the chairman of the Board, the company’s board of directors comprises six directors appointed by Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, which include: Yousif Abdulla Taqi, Osama Mohammed Al Arrayedh, Yaser E Humaidan, Dr Mohamed Kameshki and Suha Karzoon.
The two directors appointed by Sabic Industrial Investments Co (SIIC) are Ahmed Mohammad A Al Jabr and Ali Al Shamrani; and two elected directors, Uwaidh Al Harethi and Mutlaq Al-Morished, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
