Flexenclosure builds data centre for CenturyLink in Ecuador

WASHINGTON, June 19, 2018

Internet infrastructure specialist Flexenclosure said it has completed construction of a data centre for global communications and IT provider CenturyLink in Ecuador.

Located in the Ecuadorian capital, Quito, CenturyLink will use the facility to expand its data and cloud services portfolio for existing and new business customers.

CenturyLink is the second largest communications provider in the US to the global corporate market, with customers in over 60 countries worldwide.

The company is now beginning operations at its new Ecuadorian data centre, offering colocation, hosting, cloud computing, security, collaboration, communication and managed services to its national and international corporate clients.

The facility will give customers a processing environment designed to provide high levels of availability, service quality and speed of access to the rest of the world, as well as fibre route diversity for the implementation of contingency and disaster recovery environments.

"We are committed to deploying the highest quality infrastructure and providing the most innovative solutions and services to our customers," said Gabriel del Campo, vice president of data centres and security at CenturyLink Latin America.

"Located close to our customers, with 24x7 availability and the latest security systems, this state-of-the-art data centre is built to optimize power and space efficiencies, and to enable us to bring new managed services to market very fast," he added.

In line with CenturyLink’s commitment to the highest industry standards, the facility has been designed and built in order to achieve Uptime Institute Tier III certification.

The first phase of the project consists of a single-storey 300KW data centre. However, the earthquake-resistant facility is capable of vertical expansion up to two floors, providing additional white space for more than 100 racks on each floor, thus optimising the site footprint for maximum use.

Flexenclosure CEO David King said: "This new data centre in Quito is the latest in a fast growing list of Flexenclosure deployments in Latin America."

“The eCentre is the solution of choice for data centres requiring almost unlimited configuration flexibility without compromising on future expansion options, so they can quickly and easily grow in line with business needs,” stated King.

According to him, the custom-designed eCentre data centre was prefabricated, pre-integrated and fully tested at Flexenclosure’s manufacturing facility in Sweden, before being shipped to Ecuador for final construction on site – maximising capital efficiency and reducing deployment time and overall project risk.

CenturyLink is the second largest communications provider in the US to global corporate customers. With customers in more than 60 countries and an intense focus on customer experience, CenturyLink strives to be the best networking company in the world by addressing growing customer demand for reliable, secure connections.

The company also acts as the trusted partner of its customers, helping them manage escalating network and IT complexities, and providing managed network and cybersecurity solutions that help protect their business, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
