DUBAI, June 14, 2018
Indian engineering and construction major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said one of its key subsidiaries, L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE), has been ranked second in the Middle East’s Top 30 EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contractors list for 2018.
With a total revenue of over $17 billion last year, L&T is one of India’s global conglomerates engaged in technology, engineering, construction, manufacturing and financial services and operating in over 30 countries worldwide.
In addition to India, LTHE, the firm’s oil and gas arm, is involved in many prestigious international projects in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Tanzania, Oman, and Malaysia, said a statement from L&T.
One of the key projects that led to LTHE’s ranking in the Oil and Gas Magazine Middle East’s list was the field development EPC contract with Abu Dhabi's Al Dhafra Petroleum Operation Company, worth over $342 million, signed earlier this year.
The scope of the contract includes the commissioning of flow lines and gathering facilities and pipelines to transfer crude oil and gas from the Haliba oilfield to a processing facility at Asab.
In Saudi Arabia, the company was recently awarded the work for three gas production deck modules by Saudi Aramco as part of a consortium with Subsea 7. The consortium has four ongoing projects in the kingdom.
In Kuwait, the L&T unit had signed a deal worth $262 million with Kuwait Oil Company last year to build a crude oil transit pipeline from North Kuwait to Ahmadi, with a Q3 2020 completion date.
LTHE’s facility in Sohar, which is the first of its kind in Oman, comprises of a Modular Fabrication Yard LLC (a joint venture of L&T and the Zubair Corporation, Oman) and a manufacturing complex for Heavy Engineering, said the statement from the Indian engineering giant.
The facility possesses the capability to fabricate and load out a range of complex structures for Oil & Gas industry like large offshore Process Platforms, Jack up drill Rigs, SPAR/TLP & Modular Process Plants, it added.
An Indian multinational, L&T is engaged in technology, engineering, construction, manufacturing and financial services with over $17 billion in revenue. It operates in over 30 countries worldwide.-TradeArabia News Service
