Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) has closed 47 commercial establishments in the emirate in the first quarter of the year for violating the regulations for practicing commercial activity and commercial licences.

The decisions were reached after a number of sudden inspections to some commercial activities and in response to reports and complaints from consumers, Mohamed Munif Al Mansouri, executive director of ADDED's Abu Dhabi Business Center was quoted as saying in a Wam report.

He affirmed that the decisions were final and could not be appealed against for any reason as these establishments had expressly violated the law on licensed commercial activity.

"The Law No. 2 on the establishment of ADDED has given it several powers and tasks regarding commercial protection, which helped boost the department's role in enforcing the regulations and rules that would curb illegal activities and practices of commercial establishments in the emirate," he added.

He stressed ADDED's commitment to enforcing the laws, regulations and controls that regulate all commercial activities by more extensive field visits, enforcing relevant resolutions and continuous interaction with clients requirements and incoming complaints.
