Alba holds workshop to enhance Line 6 preparedness
MANAMA, March 28, 2018
Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), an international aluminium smelter, has underlined its commitment to prepare for the landmark Line 6 Expansion Project launch through a one-day workshop titled ‘MJ Preparation’ recently at the Alba Club.
Delivered by Alba’s chief executive officer, Tim Murray, the workshop compared the preparation undertaken by the legendary basketball player Michael Jordan in his life to the hard work, preparation and readiness required by Alba teams to deliver the first hot metal at Line 6 on January 1, 2019, said a statement.
The workshop included all teams involved in Alba’s Line 6 Expansion Project – Alba Smelter Project and Start-Up, Power Station 5, Bechtel, GE/GAMA, Siemens, STR and ESBI, it said.
The workshop, based on the biography of Michael Jordan, who was the star of the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s - discussed a number of teamwork aspects, such as alignment, critical path, barriers and issues to overcome between Alba and contractors’ teams, it added.
Speaking at the workshop, Murray said: “Our company believes that goals are dreams with deadlines.”
“By sharing the same aspirations, being prepared, disciplined and aligned will help us achieve our Game Changer - Line 6 Expansion Project which will transform our company into the world’s largest single-site smelter,” he said.
This workshop will be held for more groups across Alba as well as contractors’ teams in the coming months, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
