EGA receives Australian delegation at Jebel Ali

DUBAI, March 5, 2018

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), the largest industrial company in the UAE outside oil and gas, has received the  Mark McGowan, Premier of Western Australia, and his delegation at its facilities in Jebel Ali, Dubai, UAE.

The delegation was hosted by Dr Ali Al Zarouni, executive vice president of midstream operations at EGA, said a statement.

EGA has sourced alumina, the feedstock for aluminium smelters, from Western Australia since EGA’s operations began in 1979. Today EGA buys over half its alumina from companies in Western Australia, it said.

The delegation was taken on a site tour of the EGA smelter in Jebel Ali, and briefed on EGA’s operations, and environmental and safety performance, it added.

Al Zarouni said: “We have built strong relationships with our suppliers in Western Australia over almost four decades, and this trade is an important part of the economic relationship between the UAE and Australia.”

“Our cooperation has created economic opportunity in both countries, and we are always looking for how we can extend this value creation for mutual benefit,” he said.

“We are grateful for the support of Premier McGowan and the Government of Western Australia and look forward to continued cooperation with companies in his state in the future,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
