Alba Line 6 project achieves new safety record

MANAMA, December 26, 2017

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), a leading Bahrain-based international aluminium smelter, has achieved the significant safety milestone of five million work-hours without lost time injury (LTI) in its Line 6 Smelter project.

Commenting on this accomplishment, achieved on  on December 24, Alba’s chief executive officer Tim Murray said: “We are proud of our safety culture. The five million work-hours without LTI is a further testament of our company’s commitment to a zero-injuries work environment.”

“I express my gratitude and appreciation to the Line 6 Owner’s team and contractors for achieving this milestone together,” he said.

“As we congratulate ourselves on this sound safety performance, we must remain focussed on maintaining the same momentum as we progress with Line 6 Expansion Project construction in 2018,” he added.

Alba’s Line 6 Expansion Project is one of the largest brownfield developments in the region. Expected to begin production by January 1, 2019, this project will boost the smelter’s yearly production by 540,000 metric tonnes, bringing its total production capacity to 1.5 million metric tonnes per year. – TradeArabia News Service
