Euroconsol, Eurasia Fan Cheng start direct Silk Road Rail service

DUBAI, August 14, 2017

Euroconsol, a leading neutral global non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) and freight consolidator, together with partner Eurasia Fan Cheng in China has announced a new, direct less than container load (LCL) and full container load (FCL) Silk Road Westbound rail service from Chengdu, China to Pruszkow, Poland.

On-carriage is offered from the Pruszkow, Poland hub to Hamburg and Rotterdam which is a two-day transit. Additional on-forwarding will be offered to Praha, Vienna, Helsinki and Budapest in the near future, said a statement.

The service connects to all major cities in China via transshipment. An Eastbound Poland to Chengdu, China service will be available in September from Euroconsol and Eurasia Fan Cheng service portfolio.

A significant benefit of rail compared to ocean transport is speed. The rail route from Southwest China is approximately 15 days shorter to Poland.

The cooperation is situated within the iCargoAlliance network. Chengdu International Railway Service Co Ltd manages the intercontinental rail network running between Asia and Europe.

Founded in 2012, the iCargo Alliance is a global NVOCC network of top brands in their respective countries. It was founded by C P World Group and Fan Cheng International Transportation Services Co, Ltd.

Maciej Mazurkiewicz, chairman and CEO of Euroconsol, said: “This Silk Road rail service is an exciting transportation development that is efficient and fast for shipments between China and Europe.”

“Chengdu is located in Southwestern Sichuan province an ideal hub location for China-Europe shipments.  We anticipate this service growing in popularity due to the speed with which it reaches European markets.  In addition, it bypasses the congestion at some European port locations,” Mazurkiewicz added. – TradeArabia News Service
