Qurayyat desalination project to start operation in Q4
MUSCAT, July 30, 2017
A desalination project worth OR100 million ($259.7 million) in Oman’s Qurayyat, with a capacity of 44 million imperial gallons per day (MIGD), will start operation in the fourth quarter of this year, said a report.
The Qurayyat Desalination Project, which is using reverse osmosis technology, was awarded to a consortium comprising Singapore’s Hyflux and National Power and Water Company in 2014, added the Times of Oman report.
The company was expecting to start potable water production in May of this year.
Qurayyat plant’s capacity is equivalent to 17 per cent of Oman’s peak water demand, it said.
