Kurita opens regional headquarter in Jafza

DUBAI, July 27, 2017

Japan-based Kurita, a specialist in water treatment technology, has opened its regional headquarter in Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) to serve its customers spread across the GCC and the Middle East.

The company held an opening ceremony of their offices in the presence of Michiya Kadota, president and representative director of Kurita Water Industries Ltd; David Olivet, chief executive officer of Kurita Middle East; Abdullah Bin Damithan, director of commercial, DP World, UAE Region; and Ahmad Al Haddad, acting chief operating officer, Jafza, said a statement from the company.

Olivet said the company has been operating in the Gulf region and the Middle East since 2007 through its delegates and agents in various countries, but recently decided to establish a regional headquarter to manage its operations more efficiently, enhancing its presence in the region, as it is one of the strategic markets for the company.

Olivet said: “The Middle East and North Africa (Mena) markets are key priorities and our new regional headquarter is part of our investment to deliver high quality products and services to our customers through our dealers and warehouses.”

“We plan to open manufacturing facilities in Saudi Arabia and the UAE in the near future, and it is our long-term commitment to cooperate with local partners and the government sector to help address water issues,” he added.

The company aims to reach more than $400 million in the petrochemical and oil refining industry, by offering advanced technology covering all phases of water treatment, said a statement.

Kurita is committed to implementing environmentally friendly concepts to conserve natural resources wherever possible, one of the reasons why the company is one of only 30 companies worldwide listed in the NAI, it said.

The company continuously invests in research and development in its technological centres in Japan and Germany, where researchers improve basic technologies and develop products that meet market needs adding new value to customers.

Innovations open up new possibilities for more efficient production processes and greater availability of materials, thus helping to balance efficiency and sustainability. Kurita has more than 3,500 patents, demonstrating the company's ability to influence and make a difference in the future of water and operations management.

Thanks to these innovations and new investments done during the last years, the Kurita Group won the Distinction Award in the category ‘Water Company of the Year’ at the Global Water Summit 2017, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
