Saudi Arabia wins ILO governing body seat

RIYADH, June 13, 2017

Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Labour and Social Development has been elected as alternate member of the Governing Body of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) for three years, said a report.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, SPA, the elections, which took place on the sidelines of the 106th Session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, saw the kingdom getting 168 votes out of 253 as alternate member for the Asia Group for the period 2017-2020.

The ILO Governing Council elections ended with the nomination of 24 alternate members of government teams representing four geographical regions: Africa, the Americas, Asia and Arabia.
