FMS Tech wins Dubai Taxi Corporation deal
DUBAI, June 6, 2017
Dubai Taxi Corporation has awarded a major contract to UAE-based Fleet Management Systems and Technologies (FMS Tech) and its business partner Technologica for supply and installation of the company's telematics device on its limousine fleet.
FMS Tech is a transportation logistics, mobile asset protection pioneer and innovator of in-vehicle-monitoring and on-board computers technology.
As per the deal, the company will supply and install FMS Tech’s telematics device and the device management platform on Dubai Taxi’s limousine fleet, said a statement from Dubai Taxi Corporation, a subsidiary of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA).
The project will see these devices installed in 113 limousines initially, and will be expanded at a later stage, it stated.
The project will include over 100 telematics parameters obtained by the FMS Tech device from limousine vehicles and sent across to the RTA RMS (regulatory monitoring system) platform, it said.
This data is then analysed to evaluate the performance of the drivers and vehicles by with Dubai Taxi Corporation’s fleet managers and relayed to the drivers to improve their driving habits. Road safety is only one aspect that the new system will aim to enhance, as it will also aid in better understanding driver routes and reducing car idle time, which will in turn reduce costs and improve the over-all customer experience, it added.
The company’s latest innovation, FMS Track 2000 IoT, records all data pertaining to driver behaviour, vehicle location, vehicle status, and engine status and performance, and vehicle and engine maintenance and send all these data on predefined very short interval across the GSM network to the RTA RMS platform, said a statement.
This new on-board computer is FMS Tech’s latest black box innovation with embedded GPS and GSM connectivity, nine configurable inputs, driver identification that uses multiple RFID standards, in addition to an unlimited number of thresholds and device configurations.
On the win, Bassam Alkassar, the chief executive of FMS Tech, said: “We are very proud and honoured to be selected to take this project on-board by Dubai Taxi Corporation.”
“We are keen on working on this project further and aid Dubai's, RTA’s and Dubai Taxi Corporation's Smart City vision,” he said.
“We look forward to seeing the results that the new devices will achieve for RTA and assist in paving the way to safer and more connected roads,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
