Dubai’s RTA, Philips partner for smart lighting

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Philips Lighting Export BV, a leader in energy-saving lighting, to collaborate in the fields of lighting technology and power saving.
Maitha bin Adai, CEO of RTA’s Traffic and Roads Agency, and Paulo Serveny, CEO of Philips Lighting Export BV, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective parties.
"This MoU will provide the latest lighting solutions, including smart lighting technology, control & monitoring of Dubai streets, footpaths and cycling lanes, as well as a wide network of roads and parks. The Research Teams from both parties will commission feasibility studies taking into consideration investment and operational aspects that meet road safety standards and the stipulations of Smart Dubai initiative to ensure the highest possible efficiency required for implementing innovative solutions,” said bin Adai.
Bin Adai renewed RTA’s keenness to realize the vision of Dubai Government in creativity, innovation and future shaping through better communication & integration between public and private sectors. “We have got to consolidate our efforts towards leveraging the performance to better serve the community, especially in the field of scientific research. The two parties will seek to materialize scientific and practical experiences as well as applications on the ground through mutual technical visits, workshops and seminars,” Bin Adai added.
Paulo Serveny, CEO of Philips, said: "We are delighted to sign this Memorandum of Understanding which will contribute to enhancing communication, cooperation and mutual benefits with the RTA to support strategic initiatives and projects in this regard.
“The MoU will also enhance the efficiency in the fields of lighting technology and power saving in the emirate of Dubai as well as relevant projects.
