China firm showcases fastest train at Middle East Rail

DUBAI, March 9, 2017

China Railway Rolling Stock Company (CRRC) has showcased the world's fastest high-speed train at the Middle East Rail 2017, which concluded in Dubai, UAE, yesterday (March 8).
 
China Standard EMU train has the maximum operating speed of 380 km per hour and has achieved 420km/h during test runs last year when two trains passed each other at this speed on the new 363km Zhengzhou - Xuzhou high-speed line.
Compared to the last generation bullet train, the new train's continuous operating speed has increased 50 km per hour.
Each 209 m-long train comprises four motor cars and four trailers. The trains are 3360 mm wide and 4060 mm high and have an axle load of less than 17 tonnes. Each train can accommodate 556 passengers, with 10 in business class, 28 in first class, and 518 in second class.

CRRC undertakes design, manufacture, testing, commissioning and maintenance of locomotives and rolling stock including: electric locomotives, diesel-electric and diesel-hydraulic locomotives from 280 kW to 10,000 kW for mainline and shunting duties; high-speed trains of speed over 350 km/h; diesel multiple units (DMUs) and electric multiple units (EMUs) for urban, suburban and regional transport; trams and light trains.

Since its inaugural edition in 2007, Middle East Rail has grown to become the most influential rail event in the region hosting over 400 exhibitors in the expo section and 200 speakers in the conference.- TradeArabia News Service
