Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), a leading international aluminium smelter, has appointed Waleed Tamimi as its new director of administration.

A Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Tamimi comes from a business management background with a stronghold on operational excellence, said a statement from the company.

He joined Alba in 2011 as a master black belt specialist in the Operational Excellence Department, and was later promoted to manager operational excellence in 2013 and then made manager strategic supply and planning in 2014.

Tamimi was appointed as the acting director of administration in July 2016, said the statement from Alba.

He has a Master’s degree in Executive Business Administration from the French-Arabian Business School (FABS) as well as a Master’s and Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from Wichita State University, Kansas, US.

Welcoming the appointment, Alba’s chief executive Tim Murray, said: "Tamimi is another great example of developing people from within the company. He started in the company as specialist in operational excellence and since that time has continued to embrace new opportunities."
