MANAMA, November 7, 2016

The 111-year-old PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), one of India’s leading chambers of commerce, has chosen Gulf Industry Fair - to be held in Bahrain in February - as a platform to promote its members and their products in the GCC.

Under a co-operation agreement, the New Delhi-headquartered PHD Chamber will bring companies from the infrastructure, power, renewable energy, manufacturing, logistics and smart cities space to Gulf Industry Fair under the umbrella of an Indian Pavilion to promote the industrial expertise available in India from its members.

The signing ceremony was attended by Saurabh Sanyal, Secretary General of PHD Chambers; Ahmed Suleiman, Exhibitions Director of HCE; and Ranjeet Mehta, senior official of PHD Chambers.

“PHD Chamber has a direct and indirect membership of over 48,000 corporate entities. Our members include some of India’s leading industrial companies such as DCM Shriram Industries Ltd; IREDA, Reliance, Tata Power, DLF, J K Organization, Kajaria Ceramics, Hindware, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, and Salora International to mention a few,” said Saurabh Sanyal, secretary general of PHD Chambers.

PHD Chamber is connected globally with over 60 chambers of commerce. The organisation provides business advice to Indian companies on most aspects of their business. In addition, the chamber is proactive in promoting business opportunities to its members from around the world.

“The 2017 Gulf Industry Fair will see us take our first steps in the GCC market through an exhibition. We have chosen the event after watching the progress of the exhibition over the last two years. Not only are we impressed with the quality of the exhibition and the potential business opportunities that the exhibition provides, but also the approach of the organisers to business development has been the deciding factor. HCE have displayed a passion in working with their exhibitors as partners for business, a philosophy and approach that resonates with PHD Chambers leadership and membership,” said Sanyal.

“As the official partner organisation of the Gulf Industry Fair, we will showcase an Indian pavilion of expertise and products new to the market,”  he added.

“We have invested our resources over the last few years to promote our events and Bahrain as the business entrepot across a number of target markets. PHD’s support is a result of this investment. As the organisers of the Northern Gulf’s leading industrial expo, we are proud to team up with India’s PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry to promote the Gulf’s industrial and economical ambitions,” commented Jubran Abdulrahman, managing director of Hilal Conferences and Exhibitions, organisers of the show.

Indian investments in Bahrain have recently crossed the $1 billion-mark and the total trade between the two countries in 2015 totalled $650 million. Currently, there are 18 branches of Indian companies and 150 Indian commercial agencies in Bahrain.

Gulf Industry Fair 2017 takes place from February 7 to 9 under the patronage of HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister of Bahrain,   at the  Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre.
