Alba CEO Tim Murray (R) receiving the award

Alba wins gold award at health, safety event

MANAMA, September 4, 2016

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), one of the world's leading aluminium smelters, has announced that it recently won the Gold Award for the Occupational Health and Safety in the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2016.

The RoSPA is a UK based organisation whose safety awards have been recognising health and safety success for over 50 years. This key fixture in the health and safety calendar offers organisations around the world with a prime opportunity to prove their ongoing commitment to raising health and safety standards, said a statement from the company.

Alba’s chief executive officer Tim Murray and manager for safety health and environment Mohamed Khalil received the award during a ceremony which was held recently at the ExCeL London Centre, UK, it said.

Commenting on the win, Murray said: “We are honoured to receive this prestigious award, and I extend my thanks to everyone for their dedication and support in taking the ownership on safety.”

“Safety is a limitless journey. While we have achieved international acclaim for our safety performance, we must remember that what makes you successful at one level is not what makes you successful at the next. Hence, in order to maintain employee safety and health as our number one priority, we will continue to promote safety ownership at all times amongst our employees,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
