Siemens showcases high-speed train at Iran expo

TEHRAN, May 17, 2016

Siemens is showcasing its Velaro high-speed train as well as an expanded portfolio of rail innovation and mobility management at the Iran Rail Expo 2016, running in Tehran from May 15 to 18, a report said.

"Iran is a mature market in terms of rail, and the country's demographic change is fuelling an increasing need for fast, reliable and safe rail networks to support mobility and industrialization," Mohsen Nayebzadeh, head of Siemens office in Iran, added the Iran Daily report, citing Shana.

"Our extensive portfolio addresses all the requirements of Iran's future transport network with technology for urban, fast intercity and freight rail,” he added.

Siemens will focus on rail technology for infrastructure, rolling stock, service, electrification and automation, the report said, adding that it will address the requirements for both new infrastructure development and also the modernization and upgrading of existing networks.

Packed with innovative technology and able to run at 360km per hour, Velaro has a state-of-the-art diagnostic system which wirelessly reports data for preventative maintenance, and an autopilot to help the driver make energy-saving journeys, the report said.

Siemens will also showcase its passenger coach concept Viaggio Comfort, which features low energy consumption and ultra-quiet operation at speeds of 230 km per hour.
