DUBAI, February 20, 2016
Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) is set to discuss the competitiveness of the emirate’s maritime sector at the upcoming ‘Middle East Yachting Conference 2016’ in Dubai.
The government authority charged with regulating, coordinating and supervising all aspects of Dubai’s maritime sector, DMCA will be a key sponsor for the one-day event to be held on February 29.
During the summit, the organisers will also unravel details of this year’s ‘Dubai International Boat Show,’ a leading marine luxury, leisure and lifestyle industry event to be held from March 1 to 5.
On the participation, DMCA’s executive director, Amer Ali said: "Dubai's maritime sector, considered as a main pillar of the local economy, has transformed over the past years. It has played a pivotal role in advancing Dubai’s comprehensive and sustainable development as well as contributed significantly to the emirate’s gross domestic product (GDP)."
"At the upcoming conference, we will discuss important topics with our counterparts and global industry leaders as well as share our knowledge and experiences with them," he stated.
"In particular, we will tackle the latest market developments, modern technologies, existing regulations and policies, and best practices related to maritime sector and marine leisure activities in the Middle East in general and Dubai in particular," added Ali.
To be held under the theme ‘Investing for the future, Defining future strategies’ this year’s edition will revolve around key issues and topics such as the region’s waterfront projects and maritime legislations and laws, said the organisers.
It will specifically focus on the Middle East’s growing yachting industry, emerging trends, the maritime community’s aspirations, and navigation at the local and regional levels. International senior experts, officials and decision makers from various fields will participate in the conference, they added.
During the event, Nawfal Al Jourani, DMCA’s director of communications, will provide a keynote speech discussing the sector’s economic importance, major features of the first-of-its-kind maritime sector strategy, numerous fundamental industry developments, and local challenges and opportunities.
Mohammed Al Bastaki, the director of DMCA’s maritime operations, said the conference will see the launching of the much-awaited annual ‘Dubai International Boat Show.’
"Experts and specialists meet each year to attend the boat show to learn about the latest innovations and developments in luxury yachting as well as exchange information, insights and predictions about the future of the maritime sector in the region," noted Al Bastaki.
"We look forward to the yachting conference where we can share our expertise and experiences in the marine leisure industry, while providing the events and activities at the upcoming boat show," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
