Tetra Pak, a leading food processing and packaging solutions company, highlighted solutions for healthy eating and obesity, with a presentation at the Next Generation Manufacturing Conference, held alongside Gulfood Manufacturing 2015.

Gulfood Manufacturing, a trade exhibition for the food and beverage manufacturing, processing and packaging industry in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region, kicked off on October 27 and will run until October 29, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, in Dubai, UAE.

The Next Generation Manufacturing Conference is one of three conferences being held during the event, said a statement.

During the session, Alexandre Carvalho, director marketing services, Tetra Pak Global, presented a case study on “Sugar, Sweeteners and Obesity – Beverage Solutions”, outlining a number of solutions Tetra Pak has delivered for juice customers around the world, it added.

These have ranged from the reduction of sugar content to the introduction of alternative sweeteners and new package sizes, to address the growing problem of obesity worldwide, it stated.  

In recent times, many governments have changed regulations regarding sugar content and portion control, as well as launched educational awareness campaigns to promote healthy diet and combat endemic obesity, the pressure is on manufacturers to meet government and consumer demands.
