Siemens to deliver hybrid trams to Qatar’s Education City

German engineering giant Siemens is set to deliver the first lot of hybrid tram for Qatar’s Education City, said a statement.
The 19 Avenio trams are scheduled to run from next year on the 11.5 km track without any overhead contact lines, said the Peninsula report.
The system will be installed on the university campus and serve 25 stations, it said.
The trams will be equipped with the Sitras HES energy storage system from Siemens, with energy being supplied at the tram stops.
Each of the trams will be capable of accommodating up to 239 passengers, it added. - TradeArabia News Service
