MHI wins order for 80 centrifugal chillers in Saudi
TOKYO, July 24, 2015
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), a leading centrifugal chiller manufacturer in Japan, has won an order for 80 units of its large-scale centrifugal chillers for the district cooling plant of the urban development project in Madinah, Saudi Arabia.
The 80 units will provide combined a 200,000 refrigeration tonnes cooling capacity to the district cooling plant which will supply chilled water to an area of 1.6 million sq m, said a statement.
MHI's centrifugal chillers were evaluated for its industry-leading efficiency and environmental performance, and deliveries of them are schedule to commence in the autumn of this year, it said.
The firm will provide AART-270I variable speed drive (VSD) chillers, which achieves high-efficiency operation by optimally responding to the required cooling load and ambient temperature.
The efficient operation is made possible by VSD performing meticulous compressor speed control and related devices, and these distinctive mechanical features are especially effective for significant energy-saving under low ambient condition during the night operation, said the statement.
For further reduction of energy consumption, two chillers will be connected and controlled in tandem condition which can provide 5,000 refrigeration tons cooling capacity as a couple, it said.
MHI will supply the ordered chillers through Zamil Central Air Conditioners Co, a constituent of Zamil Air Conditioner Co, a leading supplier of air conditioners in Saudi Arabia. - TradeArabia News Service
