Auto component aftermarket opportunities in Egypt in focus

CAIRO, May 18, 2015

The aftermarket business opportunities in the auto component industry in Egypt will be the focus of the first ever initiative by the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), the apex body representing the Indian auto component industry.

The two-day Buyers-Sellers meeting will be held on June 7 and 8 at the Marriot Hotel in Zamalek, Cairo.

The event will be supported by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Government of India, the Indian Embassy Cairo, the Egyptian Auto Feeders Association (EAFA) and the Egyptian Junior Business Association (EJB).

It will also see to develop strong business linkages between auto component industries of the Egypt and India.

More than forty leading Indian auto component manufacturers will showcase their aftermarket products to the Egyptian spare part dealers, distributors, importers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of cars, trucks, and motorcycles.

The key aftermarket product on display will include body and structure parts, engine and exhaust, suspension and braking, transmission and steering, electrical and electronics and rubber products.

Ramesh Suri, president, ACMA, said: “India is growing steadily in capability with globally competitive products that are well positioned to serve the needs of markets such as North Africa. What we make in India, we also make for the world. We see a sizeable presence of Indian OEMs here which gives us the confidence to service these markets.”

The turnover of the Indian auto component industry for 2014-15 fiscal year is expected to grow in the range of eight to 10 per cent, from $35 billion in 2013-14.

The industry is expected to pick up in second half of next year and beyond into 2017. The performance on the export front has also been robust- the auto component exports are expected to grow by over 10 per cent compared to 5.4 per cent in last year.

Vinnie Mehta, director general, said: “The Buyers-Sellers meet in Cairo offers immense opportunities to the Indian auto component manufacturers to cater to the growing Egyptian aftermarket industry.
