Nass and Ia Cour at the signing of the MoU

Nass, Danish firm in deal to offer turnkey solutions

MANAMA, February 4, 2015

Nass Industrial Services (NIS) and Danish firm Haldor Topsoe have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for a strategic tie-up towards offering end users a total turnkey solution.

The MoU reaffirms the commitment of Nass Group to work with Haldor Topsoe in terms of the design and engineering of DeNOx systems and catalytic volatile organic compounds (VOC) combustion installations in the chemical, petrochemical and power plants across Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and the UAE, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

Nass Corporation chairman Sameer Nass and Haldor Topsoe Middle East office in Bahrain managing director Thomas Vadum Ia Cour signed the MoU.

"We are always keen to drive our business processes with technology driven engineering capability," Nass said.

"Our partnership with Haldor Topsoe will enable us to manufacture technology-based engineered products to manage the emission of nitrogen oxides into the air."

Haldor Topsoe was founded in 1940 as a Danish family business company.

The company is a world leader in catalysis and surface science in addition to leading position as supplier of catalysts and licensor of catalytic processing units widely used in fertiliser, refinery, petrochemical plants and power plants.

Topsoe's ammonia synthesis catalysts are installed in more than half of the world's ammonia plants, ensuring high energy efficiency in the ammonia synthesis.

Topsoe is also a major supplier of SCR DeNOx catalysts and technology which is most commonly used to reduce the harmful emission of nitrogen oxide from flue gases.

Topsoe has also developed catalysts for oxidation of a wide range of VOCs including halogens.

NIS, also known as Nass Mechanical Contracting (NMC), started operations in 1972 progressing to its reputation today as one of the leading electro-mechanical EPC (engineering, procurement and contracting) contractors, and turnkey engineering solutions providers.

It has completed prestigious projects in the oil and gas, petrochemical, power and water, metal and mining, and infrastructure sectors in Bahrain and the GCC.

Major projects of NIS/NMC include piping pre-fabrication and supply, fabrication, erection of storage of tanks for Sadara's propylene oxide plant in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, installation of ship impact protection systems for Bapco, constructing a jetty facility for Alba and GPIC/Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

It has also done construction of four potlines for the aluminium smelter plant Maaden; construction of offsites and utilities for Saudi Technology Base Lube Oil Plant (STBLOP) and procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of polyethylene plant for Snamprogetti in Kuwait.

Nass Marine Services specialises in the building of small- to-medium-sized vessels, ship repairs and the application of new technologies in the marine industry.

The company's Bahrain shipyard is well placed to manufacture 18 barges a year ranging from 120-250 ft.

The company is also working on a project involving the assembly of small jack-ups designed for the routine maintenance of larger jack-up units, thereby enabling them to remain in operation on station.

Meanwhile, ATI, a highly sophisticated factory for cutting and grinding wheels in the region, has become a hub for global abrasives trading, offering both local and international clients high-quality products and efficient logistical support.

ATI products have entered the European market since mid-2014 under the dealership of a foreign brand name.

Nass Commercial is also a distributor for Bapco's new line of lubricants.

Nass's roster of prestigious clientele includes some of the largest industrial companies in the GCC such as Bapco, Alba, Tatweer Petroleum, Durrat Al Bahrain, SULB, Snamprogetti, STBLOP, Sadara and Technip. - TradeArabia News Service
