19 KOTC tankers...to be maintained over a 3-year period

KOTC in $33m ship maintenance deal with Asry

KUWAIT, February 2, 2015

Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC) has signed a deal with Bahrain’s Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (Asry) for the maintenance of as many as 19 tankers over three years.

The $33 million agreement will allow the leader in the repair and maintenance of ships and offshore platforms to maintain KOTC’s fleet at Bahrain basins, said the Alanba report.

Asry will conduct repairs and dry docking of the tankers, and also hull and tank cleaning and dyeing works periodic maintenance of the engines of different navigational devices, Sheikh Talal Al-Khalid, chief executive officer of KOTC, was quoted as saying.

Under the agreement, Asry will receive the first tanker ‘Jabriya 2’ this month. Eight vessels will be serviced this year, nine next year and two tankers in 2017, the report added.
