Dubai Investments unit unveils global expansion plans

DUBAI, November 19, 2014

Labtec, a leading player in design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning of laboratory furniture and a part of Masharie – a subsidiary of Dubai Investments, is targeting aggressive expansion in the GCC, Asia, Africa and Russia, amid escalating demand across the region.

In a move that provides a major thrust to its expansion plans, Labtec has recently won a number of projects, including seven school laboratories in Qatar, besides a wide array of orders across Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, said a statement.

In the UAE, the firm continues to build on its market leadership, having won a contract to provide laboratory furniture at the Ghayathi Community Hospital project.

The ISO 9001-certified Labtec, which operates a 8,000-sq-m facility in Sharjah, UAE, achieved sales of Dh18 million ($4.8 million) in the last year, and aims to touch Dh23 million ($6.26 million) this year.

Muhammad Tariq, general manager of Labtec, said: “The region is witnessing exponential growth in healthcare and educational sectors, with rampant construction under way. Naturally, there is a huge demand for high-quality laboratory furniture solutions and Labtec is targeting aggressive growth in new markets. Our strategy is focused on geographical growth and we see the GCC, Asia, Africa and Russia as markets with real opportunities.”

Labtec, which has been conferred EN 14175, Part III and Ashrae-110 (American Standard) certifications for its fume cupboards, has also finalised plans to supply Forest Stewardship Certification [FSC] products in the GCC as part of its green building concepts.

It also plans to introduce a media ceiling and media column system in laboratories across the GCC. Designed and produced by Ludi - a Swiss company - the patented system maximises flexibility of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) controls.

It is targeting 10 per cent year-on-year growth in the next five years.

“Our innovative product lines are designed to meet different industry requirements and we are geared for strong growth in the coming five years. Following on the success of new certifications, we will reinstate our business strength within the GCC and tap new clients in the educational and the healthcare sectors across Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Australia, where FSC products are mandatory,” added Tariq. - TradeArabia News Service
