Siemes... backing technology development in UAE
Siemens marks 15 years of local partnership in UAE
ABU DHABI, October 16, 2014
Germany-based Siemens, a global technology powerhouse, is celebrating 15 years as a local company in the UAE, marking the firm’s decision to further localise its presence with the incorporation of Siemens LLC in October 1999.
Siemens LLC’s diverse portfolio of advanced technology solutions can be found in many of the UAE’s largest and most ambitious infrastructure projects, including the recently handed-over Shuweihat S3 Power Plant in Abu Dhabi, the strategically important Habshan-Fujairah crude oil pipeline, and traffic management systems in the country.
Describing Siemens as the “best” company to represent, Mohammed Rubaya Al Muhairi, chairman of Electro Mechanical Co and a shareholder of Siemens LLC, said: “I have initiated the Siemens business in the emirate of Abu Dhabi in various sectors such as power generation, power transmission & distribution, airports, traffic signals etc. and now together with Siemens LLC and our excellent relationship, we have been proudly supporting the development of Abu Dhabi, the country’s capital.”
Raja Easa Al Gurg, managing director of Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group LLC, and also a shareholder of Siemens LLC, said: “Working with Siemens has always been more like working within a family. Whenever I drive past Jebel Ali and see the power projects, I feel such a sense of pride, knowing that we have contributed to the growth of Dubai with Siemens.”
“Siemens has always believed in its partners in the UAE, the country’s growth and its dynamic and far-sighted leadership,” said Dietmar Siersdorfer, CEO for Siemens LLC. “The decision to cement our presence in the UAE occurred in 1999 when Siemens was incorporated as a Limited Liability Company with our partners, Mohammed Rubaya Al Muhairi and Sir Easa Saleh Al Gurg.
“Through the continuous and strong support from our shareholders, Siemens technology has been an integral part of the country’s rapid development.”
Siemens LLC recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Abu Dhabi Polytechnic to effectively expand the pool of Emirati technical talent. Under the terms of the MoU, Siemens LLC will complement Abu Dhabi Polytechnic’s rigorous technical curriculum in Mechatronics with world-class, hands-on experience.
This MOU follows the agreement signed last year between Siemens LLC and the Abu Dhabi Vocational Education Development Center (VEDC) and Secondary Technical School (STS) to sponsor 40 Emirati students through a three-year vocational education programme. – TradeArabia News Service
