Technovaa to invest $68m in new Abu Dhabi facility

ABU DHABI, October 8, 2014

Technovaa Packaging Industries, a leading packaging manufacturer in the UAE and the industrial arm of Darvesh, has broken ground at Khalifa Industrial Zone Abu Dhabi (Kizad) for its Dh250-million ($68 million) new manufacturing facility.

The new facility will occupy more than 35,000 sq m in Kizad’s KP4, said Abu Dhabi Ports Company in a statement.

Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of ADPC and chairman of Kizad, said: “As one of the region’s leading paper and plastic film producers, we are very pleased to welcome Technovaa Packaging Industries. Kizad’s comprehensive intermodal transportation network and close proximity to Khalifa Port with market access to more than 4.5 billion potential customers and business partners worldwide will not only offer Technovaa enhanced supply chain efficiencies but guarantee smooth, time and cost effective import and export activities.”

Hassan Suleman Darvesh, chairman, Darvesh, added: “Our new branch location provides unprecedented market access, especially through Khalifa Port, which will enable us to expand our export capacity. Our plan is to export 60 per cent of our overall production volume from Kizad to European and Middle East & African markets and cater to the local demand.”

“Kizad’s highly competitive operating cost environment will provide us with an excellent business platform to further improve our full range of services, competitive pricing strategies, as well as our production and marketing capabilities.”

The new manufacturing facility will further support its other branches in Dubai and Ras Al Khor, he added. - TradeArabia News Service
