Saudi Diesel launches heavy duty generator sets
RIYADH, October 2, 2014
Saudi Diesel Equipment Company Limited, an Al Khobar-based manufacturer and importer of diesel generators, recently diversified its offerings with the introduction of a new range of generator sets powered by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, reports Gulf Industry, our sister magazine.
Mohammed Qunaibi, director of power equipment sales at Saudi Diesel Equipment, said: “These are very heavy duty diesel engines that will cover an important sector in the market with a capacity range of up to 2,000 kW.”
Saudi Diesel Equipment has been manufacturing diesel generators for the past 35 years with capacities ranging between 50 kW and 3,000 kW.
“We have three very popular sizes within the medium range up to 600 kW and we offer them to a wide range of customers with multiple options and solutions in line with their actual consumption and energy demand,” said the official.
“Customers include oil companies, power utilities, petrochemical firms, construction companies, government agencies and ministries including those related to the educational and health fields.
“We witnessed sales growth of around 18 per cent in the first half of this year compared to the corresponding period in 2013 and we hope the same level is maintained for the remainder of the year,” he said.
The company has been awarded the ISO 9001 quality certificate and its generator sets are built in accordance with the specifications of ISO 8528, NEMA-MG, IEC 34, ANSI and EGSA.
Currently Saudi Diesel Equipment focuses on the local market with exports to nearby GCC states accounting for a very small portion of its turnover. “Any plans we have for business growth in the GCC region and beyond have yet to be finalised and announced,” Qunaibi said.
“However, we expect to move to a new facility in the coming years with larger spaces for manufacturing, engineering offices and the service workshop along with well-organised work stations for the wide-equipment spectrum that we serve and market in Saudi Arabia. The new facility will have a bigger storage area and better access to highways in the Eastern Province and consequently to the rest of the kingdom.”
The company represents Doosan Infracore, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Detroit Diesel in the kingdom.
“We import generators designed to operate at the high ambient temperature of 50 deg C, providing comfort in the hot summers. The units we import are of the open and sound-proof type with customers granted options in terms of requirements and loads,” said Qunaibi. - TradeArabia News Service
