Asry enters into negotiations with European fleets

MANAMA, September 15, 2014

Asry, a leading Bahrain-based rig and ship repair yard, has entered into new negotiations with several European fleets.

The company said it has seen several new business prospects come online as a result of exhibiting at SMM Hamburg, one of the world's largest maritime trade fairs, reported the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The exhibition this year was the largest in history, with 2,100 exhibitors from 67 different countries and over 50,000 visitors.

“Every major shipyard, as well as nearly every one of Asry's customers, comes to Hamburg,” said chief executive Nils Kristian Berge, “which makes it an essential platform for a shipyard of our size and reputation.”

He said during the show this year, the yard engaged with potential customers about upcoming repair opportunities from the very first hour.

“These kind of new leads are the reason SMM is so important,” Berge added.

Asry changed its exhibiting strategy this year to take advantage of local agents expertise.

By co-exhibiting with their local German agents, Zoepffel & Schneider, the yard has been exposed to more potential customers than ever before, he said.

The yard expects to increase its business levels in the fourth quarter this year powered by the new leads scored at SMM. - TradeArabia News Service
