Aluminium Bahrain, one of the world’s leading aluminium producers, said its casthouse department has achieved a major safety milestone by successfully completing 1.5 million work hours without Lost Time Injury.

This achievement demonstrates Alba’s commitment to safety and maintaining a zero-accident work environment, said a statement from the company.

A celebration was held recently to appreciate the Cathouse employees, which was attended by Alba executives, respective department managers and safety, health & environment personnel and Alba Labour Union representatives.

Words of encouragement were expressed to boost the team’s efforts towards maintaining a safe working environment for employees across the plant, said the statement.

Lauding the employees’ safety efforts, Alba CEO Tim Murray said: "At Alba, we believe that all work-related injuries and illnesses are preventable. Due to our continuous efforts, we have witnessed employees’ take ownership of safety. I also urge everyone to keep up their safety efforts, especially during the summer months."

"We will soon be launching a special campaign on a plant-wide basis to ensure we have a safe summer," he added.

Alba, with the objective of enhancing awareness of safety, health and environment, continuously maintains safety awareness campaigns throughout the year, through the weekly Monday safety hours, safety talk before each shift, annual or department-led HSE Week, safety reviews and observations, site visits amongst others.-TradeArabia News Service
