UAE firm achieves million hours without LTI

Emirates Float Glass (EFG), a subsidiary of Dubai Investments and the first state-of-art integrated float glass facility in the UAE, has achieved one million man-hours without Loss Time Injury (LTI).
This achievement reflecting the company's commitment to occupational health and safety guidelines, said the compnay in a statement.
Ghassan Mashal, the general manager, received a certificate and a special appreciation award to mark the milestone from Fahad Ali Al Braidi, the VP (Health, Safety and Environment) at Industrial Development Bureau of Abu Dhabi.
Abdulaziz Bin Yagub Al Serkal, the general manager of Dubai Investments, and top officials from Dubai Investments, ZonesCorp, government agencies as well as EFG Board of Directors were present at the ceremony.
Al Braidi said the Industrial Development Bureau has assured its continued support to Emirates Float Glass and all industrial entities.
"The industrial sector EHS regulatory authority has been at the forefront of implementation of the occupational health and safety legislation and has excelled in assisting industrial entities to maintain safe workplace. There has been an enthusiastic and ongoing safety commitment from EFG management, supervision and workforce," he noted.
On the achievement, Mashal said: “We feel honoured to receive this special appreciation award from IDB & DED – Abu Dhabi, which is a testimony of our commitment towards safe working environment to all our employees. Since our inception, we have set standards in all what we do and excel in our business operations."
The macro approach of EFG in occupational health and safety has contributed significantly to the company’s performance and the Loss Time Injury incident rate has been completely eliminated since the fourth quarter of 2012.
