Dubai, April 8, 2014
The Dubai International Wood and Wood Machinery Show, the biggest wood industry trade show in the Middle East Region, opened today (April 8) with participations of 500 companies from 40 countries.
The show was inaugurated by Abdul Rahman Saif Al Ghurair, chairman of Chamber of Commerce and Industry, at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The expo will run until April 10.
“Timber trade in Dubai registered a growth rate of 20 to 25 percent in 2013 compared to 2012, which clearly demonstrates the high development pace of this sector and its relevance to other dynamic sectors in Dubai,” Al Ghurair said after the inauguration.
“Dubai imports timber products and re-exports them to other parts of the world, thanks to the strategic location of the Emirate on the global map.”
At the show, a huge number of machineries from European, Chinese and American manufacturers were on display, targeting timber factories not only in the UAE but also other parts of the Mena region.
“Many exhibitors are repeat participants at the show, an indicator of its role as a catalyst for forging relationships and expanding operations as well as to launch new products and widen the client base,” Al Ghurair added.
The show has attracted a number of end-users who are on the lookout for timber products that fit their requirements.
A large variety of traders, architects and decision-makers from the contracting, environment and other relevant sectors are visiting the show.
Companies from all over the world have expressed their satisfaction over the results of the show by way of boosting their businesses, many of whom have already a presence in the UAE, notably in free zones such as Jafza and others.
The participating companies have come from France, the US, Italy, China, Germany, Austria, Turkey, Sweden, Cameroon, Canada, Latin America and European countries. – TradeArabia News Service
