APM Bahrain signs deal with workers union

APM Terminals Bahrain, the operator of Khalifa Bin Salman Port in the kingdom, has signed a three-year deal with the Port Workers Union, reinforcing its commitment to the employees.

As part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement valid from 2014 to 2017, medical insurance will be extended to members of employees' families from April.

Marco Neelsen, chief executive officer of APM Terminals Bahrain, said: “We will continue to invest in the well-being of our employees and their families to jointly ensure the smooth continuity of activities.”

Salman Al Saad, deputy chairman of the Port Workers Union, said: “Through the collective agreement we have agreed on several items to benefit both parties: occupational health and safety, unemployment insurance, family health insurance, annual increase and finally, training, development and promotion.”

The operator provides a wide range of services at the port, including the provision of sea freight, shipping, and logistical services to the highest international standards in the industry. - TradeArabia News Service
