Agility seals EU logistics partnership deal
Dubai, June 8, 2011
Agility, a leading global logistics provider, said it has signed a deal with Schmidt Heilbronn, a top European dry bulk chemicals logistics provider, formalizing a long-term collaboration.
The MoU recognizes the shared strategy and vision playing to Schmidt and Agility’s individual strengths and capabilities, said the company after signing the partnership deal at the first LogiChem conference in the Middle East held in Dubai.
Schmidt Heilbronn and Agility have been cooperating since 2008 and the MoU marks a further step in their partnership.
Schmidt offers specialized expertise in bulk polymer logistics and has worked closely with Agility on the Shanghai Logistics Hub project.
With 66,000 sq m, the hub is one of the biggest facilities of its kind in China and can receive and distribute up to 600,000 tons of polyolefins annually.
Schmidt has an established track record with many bulk polymer facilities in Europe, servicing major international chemical companies along with extensive experience in the conceptual design and operation of bulk solids storage, handling, packing, and specialized transportation infrastructure.
Agility has an extensive knowledge of chemical logistics, global reach with local presence especially in emerging markets, and the financial strength to invest in asset-based solutions.
Neil Moon, global strategic projects director of Agility’s specialty chemicals business, said this strategic partnership will bolster Agility’s unique ability to service the chemical industry by leveraging the highly specialized capabilities of Schmidt Heilbronn.
“The strengthening of our collaboration comes at an important time of growing demand for highly sophisticated services in the chemical sector,” Wolfgang Hoppmann, technical director of Karl Schmidt Sedition remarked.
“Our partnership with Agility positions us as a leading chemical dry bulk service provider to emerging markets,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
