Dubai, December 29, 2010
Dubai Exports (EDC), an agency of the Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED), along with local exporters, showcased its latest packaging products and services at a recent plastic films and packaging exhibition in Paris.
At the Emballage 2010, EDC’s Dubai Pavilion supported five UAE-based companies namely Falcon Pack, Flex Middle East, Palletco, Novaa Industries and Hotpack Packaging Industries.
“Dubai has experienced exceptional growth in the trade of not only plastic but a diverse range of commodities owing to its central geographical location, impeccable quality products and keen business sense,” said Engineer Saed Al Awadi, chief executive officer, EDC.
“We are continually encouraging local exporters to use these to their advantage and aim for a wider reach and an international customer base.”
“Through this exhibition, we are able to strengthen our trade relations with new markets by enhancing awareness on the products and services our local companies are providing.
Our participation at Emballage has demonstrated the significance of Dubai’s plastic and packaging sector on the world stage and has increased the awareness on our export capabilities across the European market,” he added.
As first time exhibitors, Dubai companies have received overwhelming enquiries from different countries from Europe, North Africa including Morocco, Algeria, Libya and Tunisia, about the packaging and plastic industry in the UAE.
During the exhibition, these companies have met with various potential buyers which resulted to over 300 sales and business leads. EDC has also collected requests for various products from visitors to the pavilion which it has disseminated back to the industry for follow up.
Edward D’Souza, general manager of Flex Middle East, said: “Participating in international exhibitions serves as a window to the outside world for a medium-sized company like Flex. EDC’s support adds value to our display and statement.”
“It is our privilege to represent UAE at international level where our exposure to the external world is much wider and beneficial in terms of business potential and gaining international recognition,” said Ahsan Hassan Darvesh, managing director of Darvesh.
Shyam Prakash, group business development manager, Hotpack Packaging Industries, said: “Although Hotpack had participated for the first time in Emballage, but the response from the visitors were great. We received mainly European, UK and Arab customers at our stall. Most them appreciated our produced products and were interested.”
Emballage 2010, which featured 1300 exhibitors from 95 countries, recorded over 90,000 visitors, a statement said. – TradeArabia News Service
