Balexco plans to boost production
Manama, December 5, 2010
Bahrain Aluminium Extrusion Company (Balexco) is set to increase its annual production to 33,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) by the end of next year, according to a top official.
The company, while announcing the setting up of a fourth extrusion line, also said a new anodising plant would be commissioned at its Sitra facility in March.
'The nearly BD9 million ($23.9 million) investment in both the plants will make us the leading downstream consumer of Alba's production,' remarked Balexco CEO Jassim Mohamed Seyadi.
'We now produce 25,000tpa of high-quality aluminium products but with the commissioning of the new line, will add another 8,000tpa,' Seyadi said at a press conference at the company's headquarters.
'While the new extrusion line will complement the existing three lines, the new anodising plant will replace the ageing plant that will be demolished soon,' he added.
He said work has already started on the BD4.6 million line and is nearing completion on the BD3.1 million plant.
Seyadi said since its inception in 1977, Balexco remained an outstanding company in the manufacture of aluminium extrusions.
'Our clients are aware we are committed to manufacturing high-quality products, which is a result of our investment in modern technologies and the constant upgrading of our human resources.'
He said the company aims to keep providing solutions for homes, offices, industrial and other applications using aluminium extrusion and related technology.
'With the new anodising plant, which uses state-of-the-art technology, we will be able to offer services to the highest quality,' he said.
'It is a process of creating a protective film of aluminium oxide over the aluminium when direct current at the sufficient voltage is passed through an electrolyte.
'It gives the aluminium a covering of colour and protection and is used in creating quality kitchens and other aluminium fittings,' he added.
Work on the expansion is being carried out by Mohammed Jalal Contracting and the project has been designed by Adel Ahmadi Associates, both leading Bahrain companies.-TradeArabia News Service
