NITC to receive new LNG vessels from 2014

Singapore, June 1, 2010

The National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) is expected to receive the six liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers it ordered from China between 2014 and 2015, a company official said on Tuesday.

The tankers will arrive in phases, Sh. Sasanian, NITC's investment and joint venture manager told Reuters on the sidelines of the Asia LNG Outlook Asia 2010 conference.

The semi-official Fars news agency reported on May 30 that each tanker is worth $200 million to $220 million. NITC's fleet is expected to grow to 74 units in 2013 from the current 46.

The company operates 28 very large crude carriers (VLCC), nine Suezmax and five Aframax tankers. It also owns three chemical vessels and a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carrier. – Reuters
