$13m warehouse opens in Bahrain

Bahrain's Industry and Commerce Minister Dr Hassan Fakhro opened one of Bahrain's largest warehousing facilities in Galali.

The BD5 million ($13.3 million) warehouse, with a total built-up area of 100,000 cubic metres, can store up to 85,000 cubic metres of frozen, chilled and dry food and perishables, said owning company General Trading and Food Processing Company (Trafco) chairman Ebrahim Zainal.

'We started this project last year to offer a state-of-the-art facility using the latest technology,' he said.

'It is conveniently located in close proximity to the Bahrain International Airport and the Khalifa bin Salman Port and has now positioned us into an elite group of logistic solution providers in the country.'

He said Trafco was set up in 1978 as a public joint stock company as part of an initiative to revolutionise and rejuvenate the food industry in Bahrain.

'It was later successfully turned into public shareholding company and is listed on the Bahrain Stock Exchange.'

He said the BD21 million company is now among the largest and biggest consumer goods conglomerate in Bahrain and deals in some leading international brands like Sadia, Rainbow, Honig, Noor, Daawat, OKI, Pride and Tata Tetley.

It also has seven subsidiaries under its belt.-TradeArabia News Service
