Manama, December 3, 2009
Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), a modern leading aluminium smelter, which embarked on a gender equality and equal opportunity at the workplace programme, is now one of Bahrain’s leading employers of women in the industrial sector, said a statement.
This commitment has been one of Alba’s guiding principles since the company was established in 1971, and has resulted in many firsts, including the first specialised female vocational doctor and the first safety coordinator in Bahrain, the statement added.
“It is indeed a great privilege to be part of an organisation that supports and rewards innovative ideas, initiative and hard work,” said Muneera Khalid Khalifa who joined the company fifteen years ago, and is presently employed at the laboratory section of the Research & Development department.
“Alba offers tremendous opportunities for working women to realise their potential, achieve the company’s goals, and thereby, contribute to the economic development of Bahrain,” she added.
Muneera has been a very active employee who has tasted success on the work front as well as in community service activities, the statement said.
She has also been a member of the Alba community service committee, safety and health team, inJAz-Bahrain volunteer and an active Alba Toastmaster. – TradeArabia News Service
