DAFZ wins “Best Airport Air Park” award

The Dubai Airport Free Zone (DAFZ) has been honoured with the “Best Airport Air Park” award at the third Middle East Logistics Awards (Mela) held recently in Dubai.
“It is a distinct honour for us to be recognised in the field of logistics,” said Adel Ghafan, executive director technical services, DAFZ.
“We try our best in these difficult times and we are happy with the results we are able to achieve in terms of increase of 48 per cent in revenue for the first half of this year.”
“The Middle East Logistics Award is a welcome incentive for those companies who try to achieve quality and implement best practices in their operation. This award is a welcome recognition of our team’s effort to attract the best international companies from all over the world to base their regional headquarters or offices in Dubai and contribute to the overall UAE economy,” he added.
“At Dubai Airport Freezone, we implement a strategy to continuously upgrade facilities for our clients to facilitate their operation and provide them more convenience. It makes us proud that we have won this award for the third time now.”
The Personality of the Year (categories – Air, Land and Maritime respectively) awards went to Fahad A Hammad, chief executive officer of Saudi Airlines Cargo, Saudi Arabia; Jinendra Sancheti, managing director, TNT Express, Gulf, Middle East & Africa; and Jamal Majid Bin Thaniah, vice chairman, DP World, Dubai.
Ram Menen, senior divisional vice president of Emirates Sky Cargo bagged the Prestigious Hall of Fame award while three other professionals and 17 companies walked away with other awards at the event held at Hotel Monarch, Dubai.
Dubai Industrial City vice president Rashid Al Ansari underlined the importance of “planning and implementation” in any operation, more so in logistics, citing historically how military operations relied heavily upon logistics.
Realising the relevance of logistics in a highly networked global trade, he said, the UAE and in particular Dubai had made and was making substantial infrastructural investments, transforming Dubai into a major logistics hub. – TradeArabia News Service
