Manama, July 14, 2009
An industrial complex for glass processing for architectural works will be set up in Bahrain, it has emerged.
Glasstech Industries, a full service custom glass fabrication company, will set up the factory, which will produce a wide range of glass of different sizes including tempered, laminated, insulated, sandblasted and silk screen printed glass.
Bahrain’s Industry and Commerce Minister Dr Hassan Fakhro said at a meeting Fawaz Darwish Al Mannai, board member of Glasstech Industries, that the new investment would initially bring 75 new jobs and increase exports.
He said that this brings to 11 the number of companies that have signed leases so far this year to establish manufacturing operations in the Bahrain International Investment Park.
This complex will be built on a 21,500 metre plot of land at the Park in Hidd area, the lease for which was signed yesterday.
The annual production will be one million metres of glass of different sizes and types per shift.
Al Mannai said that Glasstech Industries have already signed contracts with leading international manufacturers for the supply of production lines.
'The construction contract for the complex will be awarded in October this year and Glasstech expect to be producing for the local market, Gulf and Middle Eastern countries by the end of 2010,” Al Mannai said.
He added that the regional market is highly-competitive at present but given his experience of more than 30 years in the same industry, he is confident they will be able to compete effectively.
He said that their factory will be a showpiece in their sector as they will keep all types of glass manufacturing activities under one roof. – TradeArabia News Service
