3Com wins major Zamil contract
Riyadh, May 4, 2009
3Com Corporation said has won a major contract to provide Zamil Industrial Investment Company (Zamil Industrial) with a complete core-to-edge network infrastructure that will cost-effectively support its rapidly growing business.
Zamil Industrial is a leading manufacturing and fabrication group in Saudi Arabia that provides products, engineering systems and services for the construction industry, and employs more than 10,000 people in 55 countries, with an annual turnover of over $1.2 billion.
The 3Com solution replaces the existing network in AZamil’s Saudi Arabian headquarters, said a company statement.
The 3Com core-to-edge network provides increased reliability, centralised manageability and industry-leading price/performance.
Based on high performance multi-layer 10Gb 3Com Switch S7900Es at the core, the network has an access layer of stackable 3Com Switch 5500s and 3Com Switch 4800s at the edge.
The whole infrastructure is managed by 3Com Intelligent Management Centre (IMC), which centralizes and simplifies network management, reducing administration costs and increasing business efficiency.
“We were impressed, not only by the industry-leading price/performance of 3Com’s solution, but by 3Com’s responsiveness during the tendering process, as well as their ability to demonstrate the superiority of their products and services compared to the competition,” says Zaki Sabbagh, CIO, Zamil Industrial.
“In today’s global economic environment, we felt the need to re-evaluate our supplier relationship with an eye toward lowering our total cost of ownership and increasing our network performance and reliability. The 3Com solution proved that they really could help us reach that goal.”
Mahmoud El-Ali, 3Com Middle East general manager added, "Once again, 3Com has shown that our comprehensive portfolio of fresh new networking solutions delivers added value for our customers."
"With one common operating system and a single unified management platform in IMC, we help our customers reduce their total costs and increase the efficiency of their IT team so they can concentrate on what’s most important, enabling their business," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
